SAMR Model

 SAMR model integration

There are basically three types of ICT integration models and they are SAMR, TPACK and ASSURE models respectively. And we have emphasized the SAMR model and it is an important planning tool that helps to design better learning activities for students. it provides pedagogical insight into how technology can and should be used in the classroom. The model is created by Dr. Rubten Puentedura. We have learned that the particular model was created mainly to share a common language across disciplines as a teacher strives to personalize learning and helps students visualize complex concepts. Additional SAMR model is seen as a one of the important and powerful tools during remote and blended learning when integrated in classroom technology makes teaching and learning a more seamless experience for educators and students. The abbreviation of SAMR is Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Reflection.

While planning the lesson plan, o chose the topic waste and its types from class IV science subject. Under that i clearly display on how to integrate the ICT technology with the usage of S and A from SAMR model.

Design lesson plan for primary children with two levels of ICT using the SAMR model integration.

Lesson no:1

Teacher name: Namgay Zangmo

subject : social studies

Topic: waste and its type

Class: IV

Time: 45 Minutes

Teaching learning materials: Google Docs, PowerPoint, Video link, images, digital.

ICT model: SAMR

Previous knowledge: they have learned about the pollution on the environment like land pollution, water pollution, air pollution.

Lesson objectives: at the end of the lesson the child will be able to:

  1. The child will be able to write the definition of the waste in their own words with the correct concept clearly.

  2. The child will be able to draw the table to segregate between two types of waste correctly without the support of the teacher after the discussion in the classroom.

  3. The child will be able to know the effects of waste and be responsible for their own waste after the complexion of the lesson.

Lesson introduction

  • Use attention grabbers to gain the attention of the students. Recapitulate the previous lesson by following the popcorn methods.

  • I will use the video to initiate my lesson of the day.

After the video is over I will let students share reflections on the video and supplement them.

Lesson development

Information input

  • I will share the scientific definition of the waste and mention the types of waste in the picture with the help of the PowerPoint.

  • Share some examples of the waste with pictures.

Activity 1.

  • I will let students write reflection on the lesson taught and let them write in the google doc with additional examples with pictures.

  • Moreover,  I will let them draw the difference between degradable and non-degradable waste in respective columns in google doc.

Activity 2

instruction

In order to assess the comprehension level of the students i will use think pair and share method to assess it.

Firstly I will let students refer to the notes or let them watch the PPT again for a few minutes.

Then I will let them think about the topic waste individually for a few minutes and then pair up in two to share what they have learned from the lesson and if they face any problem I will be there to assess them.

Lesson Closure

The student will recall the lesson and let a few students summarize the lesson and I will ensure the supplementation. And I will ask a few students to say their reflection on today's lesson.

The lesson will be closed by playing the quiz,.
